Overview
Intuit is seeking a world-class communications executive for the company’s largest business unit. The Vice President of Global Communications, Small Business and Self-Employed Group (SBSEG) will lead product and brand communications for the company’s flagship QuickBooks and related businesses around the world.
Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Vice President will be responsible for shaping the next phase of Intuit’s communications strategy for its Small Business and Self-Employed group. The role will oversee the teams that are responsible for evolving, tailoring and sharing the Intuit story for small businesses around the world.
The position will work closely with the EVP of the SBSEG unit and other members of the senior executive leadership team to ensure that Intuit maintains its leadership with small business customers. The Vice President will serve as strategic communications counsel for all levels of leadership in support of the SBSEG business unit and a part of the communications leadership team.
We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of creating and executing multi-channel communications programs in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can partner with and advise senior leaders. S/he will also have a proven track record of developing and driving integrated communications to inform, inspire, and activate employees and external audiences. S/he will also have deep experience leading and building teams, and has successfully led teams focused on employee communications successfully in previous roles.
What you'll bring
The ideal candidate is a strong communications executive with at least 20 years’ experience leading communications and content teams in fast-paced business and technology environments. S/he/they will also have:
- Significant experience in senior leadership roles that combines corporate external and internal communications, ideally within the technology sector and/or a highly regulated industry.
- A progressive approach to communications, with an appetite to embrace existing and emerging digital channels to engage with employees in the most relevant and impactful ways.
- A reputation for being energetic, hungry, innovative, enthusiastic, humble, agile, and intellectually curious. Willingness and ability to act as a change agent and offer and advance a data-driven point of view.
- An exemplary performance record, outstanding judgment, and a proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, results-oriented environments. S/he will also have demonstrated to be a quick learner with keen intuition and strong initiative.
- A natural embrace of “Boundaryless Leadership,” with focus on collaborating cross-functionally to drive an outcome.
- A progressive “growth mindset” approach to communications with an understanding of the new media dynamic, and how to translate that into tangible results.
The ideal candidate will also have/demonstrate:
- Significant experience in senior leadership roles that combine crisis management and corporate external and internal communications, ideally within the technology sector and/or a highly-regulated industry.
- Consult and advise members of senior management on a multitude of matters associated with best-in-class communications and stakeholder management. This includes developing strategies, providing counsel, and developing and executing plans on an ongoing basis.
- Oversee the team’s work to establish and maintain solid relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and influencers.
- A fast learner with strong initiative and focus on cross-functional collaboration.
- A strategic self-starter who solves problems and delivers outcomes.
How you will lead
The Vice President of Global Communications, Small Business and Self-Employed Group
(SBSEG) will:
- Lead the Intuit Small Business and Self Employed group Communications team, which supports the company’s business objectives, advances, and safeguards Intuit’s image and reputation across a broad range of internal and external audiences.
- Build a high-performance team environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, leading with a clear vision, enabling a learning-oriented culture and driving measurable outcomes that create winning results.
- Collaborate with the EVP of the SBSEG business unit and the rest of the executive team to create and execute a comprehensive integrated communications strategy that resonates with the company’s most important audiences.
- Consult and advise members of senior management on a multitude of matters associated with best-in-class communications and stakeholder management. This includes developing strategies, providing counsel, and developing and executing plans on an ongoing basis.
- Oversee the team’s work to establish and maintain solid relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and influencers
- Develop vision, strategy and tactics for integrated communications strategies that drive business outcomes with employees, customers, and shareholders.
- Drive change management; support transformation to deliver company’s bold goals and big bets.
- Deliver strategic communications support and implementation for SBSEG GMs/EVPs and senior leaders.
- Lead approx. 20-person, global team in developing communications programming for the company’s small business and self-employed offerings including media relations, social media, content, and issues management.
- Manage agency relationships to ensure the highest level of performance and results.
- Evaluate roles, goals, objectives, and appropriate resource allocation for the communications team.
- Represent Intuit Communications leadership, products, and services to external parties.
