Join our mission

Intuit is a global technology platform that helps our customers and communities overcome their most important financial challenges. We help give over 50 million consumer, small business, and self-employed customers around the world the opportunity to prosper.

Overview

If you’ve ever freelanced, you’ve no doubt spent hours with a spreadsheet or post-it playing the frustrating game of managing cash flow: coordinating your money coming in with your money going out, trying to see how much you actually have to spend, and scrambling to fill the gap if you’re about to run out.

To run your own business is to play this game of chess — every single day. As one QuickBooks customer put it, “Thirty years of it and I'm still not comfortable. Everyday is a challenge.” And as research shows, most small businesses don’t actually play it very well: 61% of small businesses regularly struggle with cash flow. 33% are unable to pay vendors, bills, themselves, or their employees. 82% of those who fail do so because of poor money management.

The QuickBooks Money team is on a mission to give small businesses the advantage in that cash flow game and take control of their money. Working with teams across Intuit, we’re bringing customer insights, data science, and machine learning together to create financial products and tools across small business payments, banking, and lending. Our goal is to automate money management so business owners never have to worry about it.

The design research team in Intuit’s Small Business Self Employed Group is focused on understanding the needs and motivations of small business owners. We are a dedicated team of passionate and talented researchers, designers and storytellers. We use qualitative and quantitative research methods to generate insights that drive innovation throughout the entire product experience.

Who are we looking for?

You are a design researcher who is passionate about our mission. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of having empathy for our customers, not just as users of our products but as humans and business owners. You are smart, humble, and curious. This means you are a team player and comfortable working independently with cross-functional teams.

What you'll bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience leading design/UX research projects in a professional environment, preferably in a technology company or consulting firm
  • A track record of successfully managing research engagements, from early stage strategic research to usability studies, impacting all aspects of business and product development
  • Communication and presentation skills:
    • Ability to translate research data and insights into clear frameworks and actionable product recommendations
    • Comfortable presenting findings in front of large audiences of key stakeholders
    • Strong storytelling, data visualization, and presentation skills
  • Qualitative research skills:
    • Demonstrated ability in designing and leading qualitative research, specifically remote IDIs and contextual inquiry
    • Proficiency in using a wide range of digital UI research and mobile ethnography tools
    • Value process and rigor but thrive on creative problem solving and research approaches
    • Willingness to get your hands dirty and personally recruit participants
  • Quantitative research skills:
    • High appreciation for the value of hard data in complementing qualitative findings
    • Ability to integrate survey data and/or data analytics into the research process and final deliverables.

How you will lead

  • Conduct end-to-end research, utilizing a wide variety of methodologies to help us gain confidence in our understanding of our users (current and future), their needs and the opportunity this uncovers for our products.
  • Work closely with product, design, and marketing teams to define the most important research questions, lead research, and come out with a clear POV on the most important insights.
  • Turn insights into action by partnering with cross-functional teams to create delightful and seamless customer experiences.
