Staff Systems Engineer, Email/Messaging

Intuit's Workforce Technology department is tasked with building, securing, and operating Intuit’s core IT functions for our global workforce. We enable our workforce to do the best work of their lives by providing resilient and innovative technology solutions.

We're looking for a talented individual to join our Systems Engineering team as a staff level engineer with expertise in  Email/Messaging experience and knowledge. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established company, and be part of a highly progressive and transformative IT team. You will work closely with system architects, engineers, software developers, and leaders to support Intuit’s enterprise Email/Messaging implementation. Overall, your responsibilities will be focused on the design, management, and support aspects of the Email/Messaging environment.  Intuit’s Email/Messaging supports the corporate workforce and our mission critical production environment. Ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of G Suite (Gmail / Calendar), O365, Exchange, Cisco CES, AzureAD, and  related services are considered key responsibilities for this role.

What you'll bring

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • G Suite, MCSE, AWS Professional, or equivalent certifications required
  • Experience administering Email/Messaging in an enterprise environment (15,000+ users) (7 to 10 years)
  • Experience administering G Suite (Tenant), Gmail / Calendar Applications (5 to 7 Years)
  • Implementation experience with high security Email/Messaging environments
  • Expert experience with Email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP), Security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and API Integrations
  • Excellent understanding of DevSecOps Methodologies and Best Practice
  • Experience with complex multi-zone, multi-site enterprise environments and hybrid cloud deployments
  • Experience in IT infrastructure services: DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, PKI Certificates and SSL, Networking, Network Load Balancing, SAN/NAS storage, Single Sign-On solutions, Monitoring Solutions (Splunk, Solarwinds, BigQuery), and SAAS Solutions (Box, AWS, etc)
  • Strong Linux/Unix background with hands on enterprise experience
  • Advanced PowerShell and/or, Python scripting expertise
  • Working knowledge of one or more virtualization technologies required (such as VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS, GCD, Azure).
  • Expert experience/knowledge of enterprise email services and related subsystems, i.e., email archive and eDiscovery, mailbox migrations, email retention, OWA, etc.

Preferred Experience:

  • Project/Program Management Certification or Equivalent Experience
  • Hands-on experience using scripts and scripting languages such as Powershell, VB Script, Python, Java, or Perl to deploy, manage, and automate device configurations and monitoring/reporting tools & alerting.

How you will lead

  • Primary focus is technical leadership in owning the planning, designing, implementing, and supporting of Intuit’s large-scale Email/Messaging environment (full stack), with focus on G Suite (Gmail / Calendar) and O365/Exchange.
  • Identifies critical business problems, and desired outcomes. Leads the design, and implementation of solutions
  • Weighs the pros/cons of short and long term outcomes while making trade-off decisions between product capabilities and tech debt.
  • Provide technical and project leadership across diverse teams, as a driver for Email/Messaging programs and projects.
  • Continually apply DevSecOps principles and apply best practices that improve quality assurance, product reliability, and deliver quality systems that exceed BU/FG/customers’ expectations.
  • Communicate, document, and distill technical information to team members and partner organizations.
  • Coordinate service/support/compliance needs with vendors, application support teams, and internal teams through effective partnership, collaboration and communication.
  • Brief/present to senior leadership on the status of projects, new initiatives, and incident response
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots complex technical issues, including areas she/he might not have previously worked on
  • Engineer, assess, and review future Email/Messaging architecture solutions, integrations (including 3rd Party)
  • Provide capacity planning and performance monitoring to sustain and improve service availability.
  • Provide 3rd level operations support for G Suite (Gmail / Calendar) and Email/Messaging for end users, application and administration teams. You must be comfortable in addressing critical incidents.
  • Participate in security and application troubleshooting and incident problem resolutions with other infrastructure teams, including application, storage, Email/Messaging, and server teams.
  • Provide Change Request leadership for the deployment of application or infrastructure related changes.
  • Mentors colleagues​ 1:1 from a technical and growth perspective and continuously develop a strong talent pipeline
