Job Overview

The Risk Operations Training Specialist is a "Subject Matter Expert" (SME) and facilitator responsible for the successful onboarding and continuous development of our Risk Operations teams. This role sits at the intersection of process and people, ensuring that new hires in Underwriting, Fraud, and AML possess the technical "craft skills" and business acumen needed to protect our customers and the business. You will be the primary voice in the classroom, translating complex financial risk concepts into actionable operational skills.

Responsibilities

As a "Team Trainer" and "Training Expert," your duties include:

Facilitation & Onboarding:

  • Lead Training Delivery: Conduct team-specific onboarding sessions, serving as the lead facilitator and SME for new hire cohorts.

  • Live Support: Support other trainers during facilitated sessions by recognizing trainee needs, providing additional resources, and ensuring a seamless learner experience.

  • Knowledge Assessment: Complete daily surveys and conduct "new hire check-outs," providing detailed progress reports to Team Leads and Managers.

Curriculum Collaboration:

  • Content Co-Creation: Partner closely with the Instructional Designer (ID) to find, create, and organize training materials and repositories.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and communicate curriculum gaps or requested changes to the ID and Process Excellence teams based on classroom performance.

  • Agile Updates: Make minor edits to training decks and record quick updates to materials during live training sessions to ensure accuracy.

Operational Integration:

Case Study Development: Identify and record appropriate "real-world" cases to be used for practical application during training.

  • Stakeholder Management: Organize pre-training syncs with Managers and Team Leads to review schedules, assign "buddies," and align on action items.

  • Ownership: Manage the end-to-end training environment, including sending invites, organizing materials, and utilizing the Training Preparation List.

Qualifications

Domain Expertise:

  • Financial Risk Background: 3+ years of experience in Financial Services Operations, specifically within Fraud, AML, Underwriting, or Financial Risk management.

  • Risk Acumen: Deep understanding of money movement complexities and the ability to evaluate risk-based decision-making.

Facilitation & Design:

  • Strong Presentation Skills: Ability to lead engaging virtual and in-person sessions for diverse audiences.

  • Instructional Familiarity: Experience working with Instructional Designers and a basic understanding of adult learning principles.

  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable making edits in Google Slides and managing content within a Learning Management System (LMS).

Leadership Qualities:

  • Extreme Ownership: Ability to manage a classroom and drive new hire success with minimal supervision.

  • Mentorship: Passion for teaching and a proven track record of helping others broaden their technical skills.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to provide constructive feedback to trainees and clear progress updates to leadership.
