Job Overview

This is an accounting role as a Senior Revenue Recognition Accountant with the Controllership, Assurance & Operations (CAO) organization.  This position is hybrid at our Atlanta office or our San Diego office. It is responsible for applying revenue recognition principles through the performance of revenue accounting, while also charged with gaining efficiencies and work product improvements that address financial risk and support business growth.  The specific focus will be on revenue recognition assessments and allocations, variable consideration, and deferred revenue.

Intuit’s Finance team drives business growth and profitability through strategic, financial, and operational leadership. Our team is comprised of finance, accounting, supply chain, corporate strategy & development and tax professionals that support and enhance Intuit's operating efficiencies.

Responsibilities

This position will require strong cross-functional skills, revenue accounting application and ability to scope and centralize new accounting requirements that come from organic growth within the business.

  • Responsible for applying, enforcing and executing the Company's revenue recognition policy as it relates to the performance of revenue accounting.
  • Performs analysis to support reserves and other revenue and expense impacting entries.
  • Applies professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles that support revenue recognition.
  • Able to clearly articulate results, variances and demonstrate an understanding of root cause to management.
  • Work closely with business unit partners, accounting leads and internal/external auditors on accounting matters.
  • Comfortable working with cross functional teams in order to understand company offerings and implement accounting models that properly recognize revenue and expense according to accounting principles and company policy.
  • Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB, SEC), incorporating into current Company policy as necessary.
  • Streamline systems and reporting tools to ensure efficient & accurate recording and proper classification of revenue.
  • Participate in systems upgrades and enhancements as necessary.
  • Participate in the month- and quarter- end close process and related responsibilities for the accounting department.
  • Prepare journals entries and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met.
  • Establish controls necessary to ensure that revenue forecasts, deferred revenue balances and revenue accounting execution are compliant with Intuit company policy and GAAP.
  • Prepare and maintain reports / schedules for senior management, prepare schedules requested by internal and external auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting with minimum of 4 years experience preferred; CPA/MBA highly desirable.
  • Must be in the Atlanta or San Diego office at least 2 days a week
  • Background in understanding and applying software and SaaS revenue accounting literature.
  • A combination of Public and Industry Accounting experience is desired.
  • Ability to manage complexity well and demonstrated experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large scale goals in a large, public company environment.
  • Confidence, good judgment, energy and personality to work in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions.
  • Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence people indirectly and work with people in multi-functional roles.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, time prioritization and risk assessment.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, Seibel/BRM and Qliksense is a plus.
  • Strong PC, worksheet, and word processing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation and influencing skills, including the ability to raise issues appropriately to the right level internally and externally to resolve.

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is Southern California $94,500-128,0000. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
