Job Overview
As a Staff Data Scientist on the Web Analytics team, you will help lead strategic, data-driven decision making at Mailchimp. In this role, you will apply a variety of analytical tools and techniques to conduct deep dive analysis to both help understand and better explain customer behavior and business trends as well as predict future business outcomes. You will partner with stakeholders across the company -product, finance, marketing, legal, and others -- to drive improvements in the conversion funnel for our prospect-facing website through a focus on rigorous experimentation, strategic deep dives, robust reporting, and modeling to arm Mailchimp with insights that will help steer our future.
Responsibilities
- Build experimentation plans to robustly isolate impact of website changes, and guide future strategy for key initiativesCoordinate data infrastructure work to ensure appropriate tracking is in-place to conduct high-quality analyses
- Analyze large behavioral data sets to create a complete picture of the Mailchimp customer, their behaviors, and needs, turning them into actionable recommendations and insights that tie to larger strategic business goals
- Profile customer groups to identify how the website experience can be tailored to their needs
- Analyze short, medium and long term impact of pricing and promotion changes on customer acquisition
- Develop analytical and scientific frameworks to develop an understanding of the customer journey and engagement
- Calculate the downstream impact of high value actions taken by customers across the Mailchimp and Intuit ecosystems
- Guide other analysts and researchers on the design, execution, and analysis of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research studies
- Own and build analytical tools and solutions addressing product and business needs and questions enabling better decisions by leadership
- Implement methodologies for statistical inference to identify and size the impact of web initiatives
- Design insightful and actionable dashboards to guide web decision making
- Craft narratives and recommendations from analyses, build presentations, and present findings to business stakeholders
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in an analytics-focused role, prior work experience within a technology
- (software) company
- Deep understanding of web analytics data and event tracking (Google Analytics experience is strongly preferred)
- Broad experience deploying website experiments across optimization levers (copy testing, page re-builds, audiences, promotions, pricing), test designs (A/B, Factorial, Sequential, etc) and inference (Frequentist, Bayesian)
- Expertise with funnel and cohort analysis to prioritize initiatives and guide strategy
- Proven experience analyzing data from a variety of sources (quantitative and qualitative), presenting the data in a clear and concise manner, and create actionable insights
- Expertise in SQL, Python/R
- Experience with statistical methods such as regression and hypothesis testingDemonstrated, hands-on experience with data visualization tools, e.g. Looker and Tableau
- Ability to build relationships, be persuasive and influential within and across immediate working groups
- Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses like Google BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake
- Experience with mentoring others in User Experience Research practice
- Bachelor’s or Graduate degree, Field of Studies required: In a quantitative field or commensurate experience such as Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Applied Math, Econometrics or Operations Research.
- Experience with distributed computing is a plus
- Experience with Causal Inference methods is a big plus
Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is New York $179,500 - $243,000. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing pay equity for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender.
