Job Overview

Join the "MXP (Monetization, Experimentation, and Personalization) Product Development Team" as a "Staff Software Engineer" to build innovative solutions that help our customers succeed. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to drive innovation and deliver high-quality software solutions powering Intuit flagship products – TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mail Chimp.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop sophisticated web, software, and mobile applications, as well as prototypes and proofs of concepts (POCs) with a focus on future-oriented technologies.
  • Lead functional requirement sessions, develop technical specifications, and oversee project and test planning to ensure robust software solutions.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, mentor fellow engineers, demonstrate exceptional technical expertise, and lead a team in solving challenging programming and design problems.
  • Drive significant technology initiatives from inception to completion across multiple layers of architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable outcomes.
  • Deliver resilient and enduring software solutions to critical customer problems, ensuring seamless interactions across systems and alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and act as a role model and coach to software engineers advancing their technical careers.
  • Innovate within the team, fostering growth across Intuit and proposing creative solutions for emerging business needs.
  • Actively stay engaged with industry best practices, share learnings, and experiment with cutting-edge technologies.
  • Build working models using techniques like prompting/AutoML to validate concepts quickly and demonstrate practical applications of AI.
  • Monitor model performance in production environments to ensure optimal functionality and impact.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for AI integration within applications under your responsibility.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call Incident Response to uphold platform services with high reliability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Strong educational background with a BS/MS in Computer Science or a related area, providing a solid foundation in software engineering principles. Equivalent experience will be considered
  • 10+ years of experience in developing, testing, maintaining, and innovating large-scale enterprise-class web applications and services.
  • Proven expertise as a full-stack engineer, proficient in both front-end and back-end technologies, capable of designing and deploying comprehensive software solutions across the stack.
  • 3+ years of experience as an established technical leader of software engineering teams that have successfully delivered customer-driven software products.
  • Demonstrated leadership in core engineering, delivering practical solutions, empowering team members, and leading transformative initiatives.
  • Possess robust technical skills with a proven track record of motivating, guiding, and earning the respect of a highly talented engineering team.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a technical leader, driving technical designs, architectures, and best practices while fostering a culture of innovation and encouraging team members to explore new ideas.
  • Proficiency in at least one interpreted language (Python, Ruby, etc.) and at least one compiled language (Java, Go, etc.), facilitating versatile software development.
  • Strong understanding of web architecture concepts (REST, GraphQL, MVC, etc.) and adherence to web development best practices (performance, security, accessibility).
  • Expertise in technologies across the full software stack including Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), Java/J2EE/Spring stack, JavaScript frameworks, and RDBMS. Expertise in cloud-based technologies such as AWS and related services like Lambda and CloudFormation is crucial.
  • Significant experience with AI, including a foundational understanding, the ability to create working models using techniques such as prompting/AutoML, and actively monitoring AI model performance in production settings.
  • Capable of proactively identifying AI opportunities within applications under their care to enhance functionality and user experience.
  • Strong skills in test automation and performance tuning, focusing on high-quality solutions and operational excellence.
  • Persistent desire for personal and professional growth, with a strong inclination for continuous learning and a collaborative, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent team player qualities, capable of leading complex initiatives and adept at nurturing junior talents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective collaboration and leadership.
  • Prior experience in ecommerce or monetization systems is highly desirable, as it provides valuable insights into customer-centric solution implementations.

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is Bay Area California $197,000.00 - 266,500. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
