Job Overview
Performs a full range of payroll tax functions including balancing accounts, completing payroll tax filings, and comprehending payroll tax compliance info. Communicates expertly with Intuit employees, clients, and tax agencies to provide world class service to Intuit's client base. Applies established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local tax regulations and does so with expert-level efficiency and accuracy. Manually calculates tax and/or wage changes and completes applicable tax filings based on agency requirements. Supports department in a leadership capacity, providing feedback and coaching as applicable. Provides backup support to manager and team. Takes a lead role in training, quality assurance evaluation, knowledge management, tax compliance, and system or process improvements. Handles customer escalations as needed. Exemplifies Intuit’s values in all aspects of work. Works seamlessly between both in-office and home-office environments.
Responsibilities
- Expert level verbal and written communication across a variety of mediums, including but not limited to email, Slack, virtual meetings, and in-office interactions
- Intermediate public speaking skills including ability to present complex tax theory in a variety of different settings including virtual and on-site
- Identify payroll/tax issues efficiently and effectively to provide subject matter expert support to peers across multiple department processes to assist agents in resolving issues timely
- Analyze data to identify trends, errors, process gaps, or technical skill/knowledge gaps to improve areas of productivity and quality, and work with leaders to innovate, implement, and communicate solutions
- Lead change effectively and work with leaders on internal/external changes by directly supporting agents through a seamless transition
- Identify compliance issues, system deficiencies, needed system enhancements, or process improvements by working within the department, with Intuit partners, or tax agencies to drive the needed change
- Identify issues that may need manager intervention
- Defines, executes, and manages special projects as needed
- Multi-faceted knowledge of Intuit’s payroll products and services and the nuances of each, and how they work in relation to daily job functions within the department
- Prioritize a variety of tasks to execute business needs while also maintaining direct leadership support and peer support
- Understand Work-In-Progress, identify red flags, alleviate barriers, and help resolve case holds to pivot as needed in support of meeting Service Level Agreements
- Coordinate a variety of events, trainings and activities through implementing logistical guidelines effectively
- Create detailed content and training activities to facilitate complex tax training to others around established processes and procedures
- Identify areas of opportunity in others and provide feedback or coaching as necessary
- Write and review SOP’s and apply content/technical writing skills to systematically create instructions
- Thorough knowledge of all payroll policies and practices and the ability to understand and decipher tax code in all US jurisdictions to provide updated training when tax law changes occur
- Lead others in making independent and sound decisions and thinking on your feet in a dynamic environment
- Internal candidate, Payroll Tax Department (PTO)
- Exceeding Tax Processor 2 productivity and quality metrics
- Expert in all functions listed for Tax Processor 1 and 2, in addition to the following:
- Creates and updates processes and procedures and escalates issues when appropriate
- Effectively leads others and supports managers in support of team or department objectives
Qualifications
- Prior working knowledge of QuickBooks or Intuit payroll products
- 4+ years of previous payroll, tax preparation, bookkeeping, or accounting experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Correction/Amendment knowledge
- Leadership experience
- Post-secondary education completed or in progress
