Job Overview

The Virtual Expert Platform (VEP) team is at the heart of connecting our customers with expert guidance across all our products—QuickBooks, TurboTax, Mailchimp, and Credit Karma. We run a multi-billion-dollar Services business (e.g., QuickBooks Live, TurboTax Live), enhance Customer Success through AI and human expertise, and provide Sales technology to connect with prospects and customers. We own the entire technology stack, from user interfaces and expert management systems to workforce operations, digital expertise and conversation capabilities, data infrastructure, and platform services. We collaborate closely with product, design, marketing, and operations to create seamless experiences for both users and experts.

Lead the Future of Mid-Market Enterprise Sales, Services and Support Platform

We are seeking a visionary Distinguished Engineer to lead the technological evolution of the Enterprise Mid-Market platform for Customer Success, Sales, and Partners to serve our Mid-Market and Enterprise business customers. This is a crucial role in defining our technical strategy, technical architecture across human assisted experiences including first party and third-party tools, building a high-performing engineering team, and ensuring our platform is scalable, reliable, and secure. This includes strategically determining build vs. buy decisions for platform components and establishing robust patterns for our overall technology stack. 

Responsibilities

  • Be a hands-on technical leader, guiding engineers to experiment and build innovative AI-native platforms and experiences, prioritizing learning and driving breakthrough adoption.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in Customer Success, Sales, Partners and Intuit Products on strategy, prioritization, and feature delivery.
  • Partner with Engineering Directors and leaders to remove roadblocks, review roadmaps, articulate business outcomes, and establish clear measures of success.
  • Champion technical and operational excellence through design standards, consistent engineering practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Shape organizational structure for maximum efficiency and ensure engineering teams are structured for success with the right skills, focused on the company's most critical initiatives.
  • Continuously explore and implement innovative business practices for the team and company.
  • Actively partner with third-party platforms such as Salesforce to drive the best-in-class implementations to deliver successful sales, customer success, care, and partner outcomes
  • Own thrid-party Build vs Buy vs Partner strategic decisions and continuously evaluate the tech choices and guide architectural decisions.

Key Accountabilities (1- and 3-Year Focus):

  • Technical Vision & Strategy: Define and champion the long-term technical vision for the VEP, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Platform Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure platform architecture, anticipating future needs and increasing speed and ease of onboarding.
  • AI-Native Experiences: Lead with an AI-first approach, defining AI strategy and delivering AI-native outcomes across experiences and capabilities.
  • Innovation & Capability Development: Foster a culture of innovation, proactively identifying and developing new capabilities to enhance the user and expert experience.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, inspire, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with product, design, marketing, and operations teams.
  • Platform Stability & Performance: Ensure platform stability, performance, and security, implementing robust monitoring and incident response.
  • Data & Analytics: Define the platform's data strategy to enable data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Build vs. Buy Strategy: Strategically evaluate and select third party solutions, establishing clear criteria and metrics.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Develop prototypes to quickly iterate and identify optimal customer experiences.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience. Significant design/architecture experience
  • 10+ years’ experience designing and leading software architecture.
  • Deep expertise in the Salesforce (SFDC) platform, coupled with strong knowledge of Sales and Customer Success for Enterprise businesses.
  • A hands-on builder capable of operating effectively at both detailed implementation (micro) and strategic planning (macro) levels.
  • Possesses deep Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise in building and scaling AI-native applications and models, complemented by experience with cloud/SaaS and highly scalable systems. Strong knowledge of AI/ML, including Generative AI.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in platform development, architecture, and scaling strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead and empower high-performing engineering teams that do not report to you.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud computing, microservices, and API design. Expertise in modern technology stacks, API design principles, microservices architecture, public cloud platforms, and various programming languages.
  • Solid knowledge of data management, analytics, and reporting practices, along with expertise in user authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
  • Exceptional boundaryless leadership skills, adept at influencing effectively across diverse situations, knowing when to be assertive and when to collaborate, and driving designs, ideas, and roadmaps to successful outcomes.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and influencing abilities. A seasoned and ambidextrous leader capable of balancing short-term execution with long-term vision, and effectively inspiring and coaching teams.
  • Experience in conceptualizing, launching, and driving impactful business and product strategies, and multi-year roadmaps.
  • Proficient in Agile methodologies.

  • Focus on building intuitive and engaging interfaces for both customers and experts.

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position in San Diego Area California $291,500 - $393,500 and the expected base pay range in Mountain View, California is $306,500 - $415,000. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
