Job Overview
This is a leadership role within Consumer Group Canada, overseeing the product vision and strategy for TurboTax and Credit Karma. As Head of Product, Consumer Group Canada, you will lead and grow a stellar Product Management team to deliver a modern, AI first Tax and financial ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Product Innovation Visionary & Growth Focused AI First Product Leader
You are a growth focused product leader with a proven track record, multi-disciplinary thought leadership and full spectrum product thinker, going well above just your current industry to find market leading product solutions. Now with the wave of AI revolutionizing product opportunities, you will take charge with a visionary AI driven product strategy for Canada. Define the overall vision, goals and direction for the full portfolio of products across DIY, Expert Assisted Service and financial ecosystems strategies with a deep understanding of the customer needs, the market opportunities, the business objectives, and the technical constraints. Leveraging a borrow, build, buy mentality, you will work quickly to consistently test and measure your product assumptions and enhancements and drive to ensure there is runaway customer adoption with every product deployment. You will use various methods and metrics to evaluate customer satisfaction, behavior, retention, and conversion to iterate production solutions. You understand how to look at and effectively interpret customer feedback and research, as well as are a keen observer of market trends, and understand the competitive landscape to identify the product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Lead, Mentor and Coach & Roll up your Sleeves Execution
Lead, mentor and coach an all-star Product Management team and as an AI first Product leader you will enhance and accelerate how your team works by introducing new tooling and processes. Develop an all-star PM team: align and communicate high standards for PM craft, define clear processes, create a unified set of tools, hire, train, and coach for growth. Oversee and ensure efficient workflows, reviews deliverables, provide feedback and guidance and most importantly be ready to roll up your sleeves to unblock and escalate the team when they encounter Product delivery challenges. You foster a culture of safety, collaboration, creativity, and innovation within the team and across the product organization.
Excellent Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
Success will mean excellent collaboration with cross-functional teams both within Canada and the US to ensure that the product solutions are feasible, viable, and desirable. You will work with the US platform and product managers along with your Canadian PM team to define the product requirements and scope, with the engineers to ensure the development quality and consistency, with marketing to define customer segments and uncover the features and input on the promos necessary to raise their heads and with Leadership stakeholders to present and support product vision and roadmap. You will also be customer centric and will take a test and validate approach to product changes to ensure solutions will drive value and desire. You are the LEAD advocate and the spokesperson for the customer and the product perspective in the product development process. Be able to communicate product vision and oversee execution both up, down and across the organization to US Senior Leadership, Canadian teams, partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Engineering, MBA or Commerce Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of experience in product management with preference in Cloud and DevOps software development environments, experience with marketplaces and 2 sided markets
- 5+ years of experience managing product managers
- A clear understanding and point of view on how artificial intelligence will change the craft of product management and how products should change to better reflect customer expectations
- Examples of product management delivery and customer advocacy that led to breakthrough adoption of the product
- Highly collaborative, team spirit builder and able to take in multiple points of view, synthesize decisions, and communicate outcomes across the organization
- Mastery of PM tools (we use Figma, CODA, Jira, Smartsheets, Google Suite), agile development methodologies
- Artistry and excellence in simplifying complex ideas, identifying risks and dependencies, and delivering for customers within the constraints of technology
- Confidence in managing through ambiguity with a track record of creative problem solving that demonstrates flexibility
- A love for technology, and an insatiable curiosity for new tools to solve real problems
