With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.
Job Overview
At Intuit, our mission is to Power Prosperity for consumers and small businesses worldwide. The Intuit Design System (IDS) is a company-wide, multi-theme design system that accelerates Intuit’s mission by delivering innovative and foundational design system guidelines, tools, and services that support Intuit designers and developers across TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, Mailchimp, and many other Intuit offerings.
To help us achieve this, we are looking for a systems-thinking Design Strategist for the IDS team focused on design foundations. The primary responsibility of this role is to act as a lead designer and advocate for IDS, enabling designers and developers to deliver beautiful, cohesive product and marketing experiences confidently.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for existing IDS assets to accelerate business outcomes across the organization and develop partnerships that influence IDS' strategic direction.
- Exhibit the ability to influence others’ thinking, gain alignment through shared understanding, empathize with and accept critical feedback, and persistently return to the collaboration table to solve systemic challenges for our customers' benefit.
- Lead the visual and technical direction of our foundational design tokens including experience design, visual style, and technical tooling.
- Extend the design system language to influence the company’s ability to design for emotion at scale, utilizing industry knowledge, customer insights, and trend analysis to develop innovative experiences that challenge and delight customers.
- Surface opportunities to enhance processes, deliverables, and customer experience while balancing long-term considerations with the design system's continuous shipping, iteration, and evolution.
- Mentor other designers with systems thinking adjacencies inside Intuit to extend design craft authority and represent Intuit externally through conferences, blog posts, or other channels.
- Collaborate with brand and product/marketing design teams on business requirements, implement design system elements, identify gaps, and champion end-to-end design opportunities for better customer outcomes.
- Expertly create and maintain Figma variables and libraries, focusing on syncing design and code to improve design tools that manage and document components, themes, and tokens.
- Offer support and guidance to teams implementing the Intuit Design System via Slack, office hours, and status updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in system design, visual design, interaction design, product design, product engineering, or related field
- Mastery of design tools (especially Figma) and design system technology, with a deep understanding of design token best practices, versioning, performance optimization, and analytics
- Practical design systems experience that shows strong ownership of or significant contribution to an existing design system that impacts millions of customers
- Examples of design and development advocacy that led to breakthrough adoption of design system tools, processes, or artifacts
- Highly collaborative team spirit able to take in multiple points of view, synthesize decisions, and communicate outcomes across the organization
- Artistry and excellence in simplifying complex ideas, identifying risks and dependencies, and delivering for customers within the constraints of technology
- Confidence in managing through ambiguity with a track record of creative problem-solving that demonstrates flexibility
- A love for technology and an insatiable curiosity for new tools to solve real problems
