As a product design co-op, you will be a valued member of our design systems team, working alongside experienced designers and cross-functional partners. You will actively participate in the product design lifecycle, systems design,  contributing to user research, concept development, interaction design, and visual design. You'll gain hands-on experience in how design integrates with product strategy and development. Through this internship, you will learn to translate user needs into compelling designs, contribute to a user-centered product, and actively seek out opportunities for growth within the design field.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate on User-Centered Solutions: Participate in design thinking workshops and brainstorming sessions to help solve customer problems.
  • Contribute to Design System Maintenance: Assist in defining and documenting design system elements based on established brand and product guidelines.
  • Assist in Ideation and Validation: Help conceptualize a variety of design ideas and contribute to the process of narrowing them down for validation.
  • Create Design Deliverables: Support the creation of high-quality design deliverables, including wireframes, prototypes (Figma), and interaction patterns, with guidance from senior designers.
  • Support User Research: Participate in customer research activities, assisting with tasks such as note-taking and observation.
  • Collaborate and Share: Share your design work with the team, actively participating in critiques and collaborating with designers, product managers, and developers to iterate on designs.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Eagerness to Learn and Experiment: A strong curiosity and willingness to test new ideas and learn from feedback.
  • Interest in Design Systems: An understanding of the importance of design systems and a desire to learn more about their application.
  • Appreciation for Design and Development Collaboration: An understanding that design and coding are connected and a desire to learn how they work together.
  • Clear Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate design ideas through wireframes, prototypes, and presentations.
  • User-Focused Mindset: A passion for understanding user needs and creating products that provide positive user experiences.
  • Foundational UX Design Skills: Basic knowledge of UX design principles and tools, including design thinking, wireframing, prototyping (Figma), and user research methodologies.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Actively enrolled in a post-secondary education program.
  • A graduation date at least 4 months after the co-op term ends.
  • Available for an 8-month co-op work term (May - December).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the co-op term, without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to work in our Toronto office a minimum of 3 days per week.
