Job Overview

Intuit, the global financial technology platform that makes TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, is looking for an innovative and strategic policy leader and advocate to join our Global Corporate Affairs and Public Policy (GCAPP) team with a specific focus on Consumer Platform policy priorities and advocacy.  Candidates should be able to manage high energy and fast paced interactions with internal and external stakeholders- including business leaders, legal teams, marketing teams, communications teams, trade associations, legislators, think tanks, consumer advocates, tax and financial services regulators.  Candidates should also have a strong knowledge of and background in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to tax administration, tax preparation, and consumer financial services.

This position will serve as part of the GCAPP team, reporting to the director leading consumer group public policy and working directly with colleagues on our Legal, Compliance, and Policy and Consumer Platform teams.

This role is hybrid with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our Washington, DC office. We prioritize being together to promote connection and belonging, creativity and innovation, as well as speed, agility, and productivity to accelerate getting work done.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a holistic public policy portfolio focused on consumer tax preparation and consumer finance.
  • Develop and drive coordination among relevant internal stakeholders in order to effectively craft and contribute to policy submissions with relevant regulators.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Corporate Affairs - Consumer Group, execute a multi-faceted approach to managing external relationships focused on our tax administration priorities.
  • Effectively track, provide expert analysis, and work in coordination within our consumer platform and Global Corporate Affairs’ Government Relations teams to contribute to advocacy efforts including coordinating and developing public policy collateral such as policy position papers and talking points.
  • Coordinate third-party outreach including working through trade associations and coalitions, where appropriate, to create a policy environment that helps our financial services customers thrive.
  • Work directly with Intuit and business leaders, Global Corporate Affairs, legal, related functional groups, and customers to develop and help execute effective government affairs advocacy strategies in coordination with US Federal Affairs colleagues to protect and advance our interests before policy makers and US financial services functional regulators.
  • Provide expert advice to internal business partners.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders and experts to identify opportunities and risks arising from global policy and regulatory development.

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is:

Washington DC $194,000 - 262,500This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits).Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. Qualifications

  • At a minimum, 10 years of relevant experience including but not limited to some combination of representing a large consumer financial services organization, serving as a consumer advocate on financial services issues, advising a legislative body on consumer financial services issues, working within a regulatory body on financial services issues in a senior capacity, or representing a consumer financial services trade association.
  • Strong knowledge of and background in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to consumer tax preparation, consumer financial services, and FinTech.
  • Keen understanding of tax administration from a legislative and regulatory perspective with strong stakeholder relationships on Capitol Hill, at the Internal Revenue Service, and Department of the Treasury.
  • Proven track record of coalition building, reputation management, and enhancing brand awareness within the policy making and regulatory community.
  • Self-starter and quick learner with a proven record of accomplishment of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
  • History of working both independently and as part of a broader team with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Ability to balance strategic long-term projects and tactical execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; masters, MBA or law degree strongly preferred, in relevant fields.
  • The ability to travel based on business needs.
