Job Overview

Intuit is looking for the Design Director for the Accounting & Accountants group. This role will focus on disrupting the core jobs of accounting and tax and accelerating the growth in Accountants and Mid-market customers through AI-driven automation and ecosystem integrations. You will lead a talented and diverse Design team that embraces the culture of customer obsession and delivers world-class user experiences.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of fearless, talented design leaders and designers across North America, UK and Australia as they create products and services that power small businesses growth. This role requires a dynamic individual who is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment, with a solid ability to go deep into the details, lead from the strategic perspective, and influence at the senior leadership level.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a distributed, 30+ person global design team consisting of: Product Designers, Content Designers, Visual Designers, Researchers, Design Operations
  • Directly manage a team of design managers
  • Create an inspiring and collaborative team culture where managers can thrive and grow as leaders and designers at all stages of their career can do their best work now, while having numerous mobility opportunities
  • As a member of the Accounting and Accountants leadership team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional peers — product, engineering, marketing, analytics, customer success — to define the strategy, manage the product portfolio by setting the strategic vision, drive innovation practices, create a high-performing product development culture, and drive results
  • As a member of the QuickBooks Design leadership team, you will partner with your design leadership teammates to define the design function strategy and ensure end-to-end excellence in the overall customer experience in QuickBooks is elevated and refreshed
  • Invest in helping to build a world-class design culture for Intuit’s design communit.
  • Mentor, coach, and grow future leaders

Qualifications

  • Deep customer obsession and customer-driven mindset that informs a strong point of view on product strategy and comfort with advocating it among peers
  • Ability to work at scale, and across multiple functions and product lines
  • Hunger for intensity and moving quickly in a high-performing, cross-functional product team
  • Comfortable participating and collaborating with C-suite executives, bringing a provocative, well-informed strategic perspective to the table
  • Up-level design acumen through strategic design sprints, prototyping, and ensuring highly curated end-to-end experiences. Comfortable role modeling and “rolling up your sleeves” to show, teach, and elevate extraordinary designs and products
  • Growth mindset, comfort with ambiguity in a highly matrixed organization, and the ability to stay calm under pressure and amid rapid change
  • Systems thinking and the ability to imagine integrated offerings and work with matrixed organization to deliver on the vision and priorities
  • Motivational, facilitative coaching and leadership skills that rally and inspire design and cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional storytelling skills and comfort building relationships with senior executives and influencing them, even when you don’t report to them
  • Deep experience shipping products across platforms and across geos as a designer and coaching others through it
  • Appreciation for all forms of design and how they collaborate — interaction, visual, content, motion, and research
  • Experience in FMS, Fintech, or mid-market products is a huge bonus

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is Bay Area California $263500-356500. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
