Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned, strategic Principal Communications Manager to lead Intuit’s policy and reputation communications workstreams. This individual will serve as a senior advisor to C-Suite executives on topics ranging from global content moderation to customer advocacy, protecting and promoting Intuit’s reputation at the intersection of technology and public policy.

You will drive the communications strategy for high-stakes initiatives, acting as a primary bridge between our Global Corporate Affairs and Public Policy (GCAPP) and Public Affairs teams and the broader Global Communications organization. You must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing fast paced incidents, communicating materiality, and leading from the front during internal and external interactions.


Responsibilities

Policy Communications Strategy: Lead policy communications for Intuit’s Global Business Solutions Group, including our QuickBooks and Mailchimp products in close partnership with our Global Corporate Affairs and Public Policy and Public Affairs teams. Lead policy earned media strategy covering topics that include small business empowerment, the Intuit QuickBooks Small Business Index, economic opportunities, AI adoption among businesses and more. Drive the narrative for Intuit’s global Small Business Councils (US & UK), supporting advocacy fly-ins and policy shifts.

Incident Management: Provide strategic counsel on technical incidents and priority issues; determine when technical issues require external escalation or media management. Act as the lead communications advisor for Content Moderation, reviewing suspected Terms of Service violations.

Legislative Advocacy Support: Drive the narrative for Intuit’s global Small Business Councils (US & UK), supporting advocacy fly-ins and policy shifts, such as seeking parity with financial institutions for payment processing.

Communications Materials Development: Develop high-level materials, including op-eds, blog posts, press releases, media pitches, and briefing documents for the C-Suite and senior leaders.

Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Legal, Privacy, Workplace, Brand/Social and Security teams to ensure all external responses are consistent, compliant, and defensible.


Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of direct experience in Public Relations or Corporate Communications, with a proven track record in public affairs, policy, and crisis management.

Issues Management Acumen: Demonstrated ability to evaluate reputational risk and comfortable recommending communications activity based on policy and media sentiment. 

Media Relationships: Established relationships with key policy and business reporters; ability to pitch complex data sets and economic analyses to secure impactful coverage.

Technical & Financial Literacy: Ability to quickly grasp technical incident protocols and financial market dynamics to translate them into clear, accessible messaging.

Collaborative Leadership: Experience managing senior stakeholders and large cross functional workstreams across global regions and external agency partners.


Writing Excellence: Exceptional ability to draft executive facing materials that captures strategy and  execution under tight deadlines.
