Company Overview

Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With tens of millions of customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.

Job Overview

THE ROLE

Intuit is bringing on a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to sit inside our highest-stakes payments work: strategic customers moving real payment volume onto QuickBooks Payments, and strategic partners building QB Payments and QB Invoicing directly into their own products. This is not a generic “connect an API” integration role. It's the technical seat at the table when a business migrates live money movement off Stripe, Braintree, PayPal, Square, or Adyen — where a mishandled token, a missed reconciliation edge case, or an overlooked chargeback flow has immediate customer and revenue consequences.

You will own these engagements technically end-to-end: discovery, migration design, execution, cutover, and the reusable tooling that makes the next migration faster. You'll also be the hands-on technical lead when a strategic partner needs QB Payments and QB Invoicing woven into their own solution — not handed a spec, but co-building it with them.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the technical relationship with strategic customers migrating payment processing to Intuit, from discovery through cutover and stabilization.

  • Design and execute migration plans for moving payment data, stored payment methods and tokens, and transaction history from processors like Stripe, Braintree, PayPal, Square, and Adyen onto QuickBooks Payments.

  • Partner directly with key strategic partners integrating QB Payments and QB Invoicing into their own products, acting as the hands-on technical lead for their build.

  • Architect for multi-entity payment structures, complex reconciliation, and payment token migration that hold up under real, live transaction volume.

  • Design explicitly for the parts of payments that are easiest to get wrong: refunds, chargebacks, deposit reconciliation, cash flow timing, and integrating credit or financing products.

  • Turn each strategic engagement into reusable migration tooling and playbooks, so every subsequent migration is faster and lower-risk than the last.

  • Serve as the technical escalation point when a migration hits an edge case in production — debug across the API, ledger, and reconciliation layers.

  • Travel to strategic customer and partner sites as needed to unblock critical migrations and integrations.

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE

  • A genuine payments and fintech expert with deep, hands-on knowledge of payment APIs and integrations — not conceptual familiarity, but scars from building against them.

  • Direct experience migrating payments to or from processors such as Stripe, Braintree, PayPal, Square, or Adyen.

  • Working knowledge of multi-entity payment structures, complex reconciliation, and payment token migration.

  • Command of the operational realities of payments: refunds, chargebacks, deposit reconciliation, cash flow implications, and integrating credit or financing products.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful time in a forward-deployed, solutions engineering, or customer/partner-facing technical role.

  • Comfortable owning a technical relationship end-to-end with a strategic customer or partner, including the hard conversations when a migration hits a snag.

  • Strong communication skills — able to explain migration risk and tradeoffs clearly to both engineering counterparts and business stakeholders.

  • Willingness to travel to customer and partner sites as needed.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience building payment integrations from the platform or PSP side, not only as a consumer of one.

  • Familiarity with PCI compliance and tokenization standards, including network tokens.

  • Prior work on payments for multi-sided marketplaces or embedded finance products.
