Job Overview

Come join Intuit as a Software Engineer 1 on the Future of Discovery & Engagement (FODE) team within QuickBooks.

FODE powers adoption and awareness, upgrades and conversion, and repeat consumption across high-traffic product surfaces. We are building the next-generation contextual discovery and personalization platform that embeds intelligent, real-time recommendations directly into customer workflows.

As an SWE1, you will contribute to building scalable, high-performance web experiences that support experimentation, personalization, and AI-driven discovery. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to help deliver customer-centric experiences that drive measurable business outcomes.

This role is ideal for engineers early in their careers who are excited to build impactful customer-facing features, learn modern web architectures, and grow within a high-visibility, growth-focused platform team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

  • Implement reusable, modular UI components that support experimentation, personalization, and contextual discovery.

  • Build responsive, accessible (WCAG-compliant), and internationalized experiences across browsers and devices.

  • Integrate frontend applications with backend services (Node.js/Java/Kotlin) powering recommendation engines, experimentation platforms, and real-time targeting systems.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.

  • Develop and maintain automated test coverage using Cypress or Playwright for end-to-end testing.

  • Contribute to instrumentation and telemetry to measure customer engagement and feature performance.

  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners including product, design, data science, and platform teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 1+ years of software development experience (internships and co-ops included).

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), ReactJS, HTML5, and CSS3.

  • Experience building responsive and component-based web applications.

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and client-server architecture.

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.

  • Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright.

  • Understanding of software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a growth mindset.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Preferred Experience

    • Experience building or contributing to SaaS or high-traffic web applications.

    • Familiarity with Node.js or backend service integration.

    • Experience working with experimentation platforms, feature flags, or A/B testing frameworks.

    • Exposure to personalization systems or AI-driven user experiences.

    • Knowledge of performance optimization and frontend observability tools.

    • Experience contributing to reusable design systems or shared UI libraries.

    Why Join FODE?

    • Work on high-visibility product surfaces that directly impact QuickBooks growth.

    • Contribute to AI-driven personalization and real-time customer engagement experiences.

    • Build modern, scalable frontend systems using React and contemporary testing frameworks.

    • Learn from experienced engineers and grow within a strategic platform team.

    • See measurable business impact from the features you ship.
